Not to be missed: City job-shadowing opportunity

The City of Cape Town’s Corporate Services Directorate is facilitating job-shadowing opportunities for high school learners, tertiary students and City staff who are currently studying.
The job shadowing will take place over a period of up to five days, during the respective school and/or university holidays.
Job shadowing for staff will take place at an agreed upon time, once the application is sent and approved.
‘This is an opportunity not to be missed. We are giving our young people and staff a fantastic glance into what their future could look like. While shadowing a professional in the field, they will get a very good idea of what the work entails, and whether this could be a career they want to pursue. They will also be able to ask questions, perform duties, explore if the job matches their personalities and values and ultimately make informed decisions about their future careers,’ said the City’s Mayoral Committee Member for Corporate Services, Alderman Theresa Uys.
To be considered for this opportunity, the students will need to be South African citizens living in Cape Town. The following documents are required:
A completed job shadow application form either for high school/university students or staff currently studying
A certified copy of their ID, not older than three months
A letter from the school/ tertiary institution requesting job shadowing and indicating the duration (one to five days)
A signed letter from their parent/legal guardian confirming permission. • A short CV including contact numbers of the parent/legal guardian/educator/lecturer.

Applications must be submitted as soon as possible, given that the job shadowing is taking place during the holiday period.
